So, just like pretty much everything in my life, this trip was actually supposed to be to San Diego with my family in early August to celebrate my step-dad turning 70! Big deal, right!? Well, when we booked that said trip, we told my parents the only reason we wouldn’t be able to go on the trip is if we “were having a baby!” Fast forward two months and when we found out our due date, we both couldn’t help but laugh. I mean, God’s timing is always perfect, and when we you make a plan He laughs, right!? Well, we were laughing right along with him!

My parents told us to go ahead and use the tickets and book whatever trip we wanted, and I immediately knew Charleston would be the perfect spot. If you’ve been around here since the beginning, than you definitely will remember when I styled a photoshoot for Silpada in Charleston. I fell in love with the architecture, the history, the food, and the beach. And was so pumped when we finally decided to make it happen 5 years later! So, here’s how we do trips, I hope this helps you and your significant other/ friends plan your trip!

I started out collecting ideas from Instagram that looked like great places to go. Mostly restaurants, so if you’re a foodie, you will LOVE CHARLESTON! I here’s my list of the things I couldn’t wait to see too. So, with that this is what we did while we were in Charleston!

Thursday:

  • Yorktown Patriot Point / Aircraft carrier and submarine - We went right when we got into Charleston around 3pm, and it was a perfect activity for 2 hours. It was really interesting to be in something that massive and try to comprehend the amount of people that lived in it. Also, since I was super pregnant, I wasn’t able to actually fit down in the submarine.

  • Fish House for dinner / We had the fried green tomatoes to start ( a southern staple), shrimp and grits, and she crab bisque (my personal favorite), shrimp and lobster pappardelle too! We also had a bourbon concoction and loved it, and they made me an Arnold Palmer with lime, which was a great drink too! We finished with a chocolate brownie dessert and ice cream.

  • Checked into King Charles hotel and passed out by 9pm. The location is PERFECT! It’s two blocks from King Street and The Rise coffee shop! And has enough on site parking too! Which made it way easier to get out when we wanted too!

Friday

  • Breakfast at The Rise Coffee Bar - I had the lavender and honey latte and it perfect. We also had a couple of croissants too.

  • Candlefish - We signed up for the 10am candle making class it was honestly the highlight of our trip. I know making candles doesn’t sound like something that’s very hard or interesting. But, honestly they have created such an incredible experience
