Town Center: Revamped with Pottery Barn

Revamp your living room with these three steps

The Mr. and I bought new carpet for the house in early December and then surprisingly bought new furniture for the room and then stopped dead in our tracks. Like as if we couldn't even dream up what pieces we should bring into the room and as if we were waiting for a interior design fairy to bring the perfect pieces into our home. Well those magical fairies came! Yep, their names are Laura and Renee and they work at Pottery Barn at Town Center Plaza. I measured the living room, windows, couch, mantel, and hearth for them to really get a good idea about the space. I also showed them the pieces we already owned plus the pieces I really liked from Pottery Barn. I then let them go crazy and put together three complete looks (couch, mantel and coffee table) and tips to do this right! So here's the first room update!

Okay thanks for staying with me and came all the way down here to check out the three tips to make the most out of your couch, coffee table, and mantel styling

1. Couch: Pillows need to be in the same color story (black and whites, primary, and blues and greens shown here), have pattern & texture and ensuring they are interesting. No need to have all solid pillows up in here. You can have five or six pillow on your couch, just make sure you create a balanced visual weight. Like, you don't need 4 HUGE pillows on one side and 2 little pillows on the other. Ya feel me?

2. Coffee table: Break that bad boy into quarters and grab your favorite accessories. The first coffee table look - I might have pushed the accessories a bit tighter than this rule calls for, and hey, I dig it! For the second and third look, it's more like the coffee tables was cut in half by the tray, then the books and blue box balance out the magnifying glass and succulent plant beautifully. Don't cha think?

3. Mantel: This is all about peaks! Yes, peaks - never knew that's how you made mantels come together. But, I can tell you I sure am glad to know now. Take the last mantel with the pops of blue for example - see how the brass ampersand creates it's own peak, as do the picture frames, and the brass candle sticks. It's just perfect!

P.S. - When you are stuffing a pillow into a new pillow case be sure to "chop it" in half and stuff. It helps ensure more pillow fills those corners and looks extra fluffy!

P.S.S. - Color is everything, so be sure to add little pops all over your room to really put it together.
